Madalyn Sarena Peratoner Berg is an herbalist, artist and educator. She practices energetic herbalism and offers a trauma informed practice. Madalyn believes that imbalances exist at the nexus of our internal and external worlds and considers the physical, emotional and spiritual in relationship with broader social, political and environmental forces acting on the body. Born and raised in Northern California of Colombian, Italian, and Russian Jewish descent, in her practice Madalyn is especially excited to use locally grown plants along with those she and/or her clients have an ancestral connection to.
In 2014 Madalyn founded The Community Medicine Cabinet, a collaborative project between Northern California Herbalists, offering education and self care products made in an ethical, sustainable, and beautiful way. This clinical practice is a "shelf" of that medicine cabinet. She is also an herbalist on staff and faculty at Gathering Thyme, a herb shop and school in San Rafael, CA, and a grower for the Sonoma County Herb Exchange.
Madalyn has lived alongside plants her whole life, and began formal herbal studies in 2010. She studied under Karyn Sanders and Sarah Holmes at The Blue Otter School of Energetic Herbal Medicine in Fort Jones, California, and graduated from Roots Program at the California School for Herbal Studies in Forrestville, CA. Among other teachers, she has also studied with Mathew Wood and Cheryl Schwartz.
A goal of Madalyn's practice is to use plants, tools and information to empower clients, returning to them a sense of agency over their lives and their bodies. Madalyn is especially committed to providing herbal support for oppressed communities including Sick, Disabled, Queer, Trans, POC and Poor communities. A monthly low cost clinic is in the works.
